Newspaper Readership ProgramIn February 2008, the USG Academic Affairs Committee started UConn's Readership Program with the hopes of integrating current events into everyday academic life at UConn. Each day, students pick up approximately 600 free copies of the New York Times at various locations throughout campus. In an effort to add local news and support diversity in newspapers and opinions, USG added 100 free copies of the Hartford Courant to the program in the fall of 2010. The Readership Program also provides speakers and current event discussions facilitated by professors and students.
A little tidbit of information: The Hartford Courant is the country's oldest newspaper in continuous publication.
